Calidus launches $170m mega-raise

Delta to try sell gold project and Magnetic raises money

The Pre-Start

  • AIC Mines has extended their Jericho copper project 500m north with a step-out drilling program (A1M)

  • ERA shared that the Takeovers Panel has declined to conduct proceedings on the application put forward by its minority shareholders concerning the entitlement offer (ERA)

High Grade It

  • China’s biggest stimulus package since the start of the pandemic may have ended the blistering rally in Australia’s biggest banks (AFR)

  • Oil prices were little changed on Wednesday as investors reassessed the ability of China's stimulus plans (Reuters)

  • Fund managers are selling out of Woodside following their US acquisitions (AFR) “they haven’t put themselves in a position where they can buy back shares”

  • Inflation hits three-year low of 2.7pc, but rate cuts remain distant (AFR)

  • The Takeovers Panel elected not to get involved in a dispute between minority shareholders Packer & Co + Zentree and Rio over ERA’s raising (West)

Strong words to put in a competitor’s mouth!

  • Kamala Harris vowed to create a national stockpile of critical minerals (Blomberg)

  • Trafigura signals new era as its gas and power boss ascends to chief executive (FT)

Rattlin’ the Tin

  • Firefly Metals has wrapped up its $65 million placement (FFM) to fund another 100km of resource drilling at their Green Bay copper-gold project in Canada

  • Highfield completed the unconditional component of its institutional placement (US$6 million to EMR Capital) (HFR)

  • Pacgold just completed a $4.1 million placement to ramp up exploration at Alice River gold project (PGO)

Word on the Decline

  • The announcement that Delta Lithium will look to offload its Mt Ida gold project is pretty interesting to us for a few reasons. The market isn’t short of scepticism about the ability to achieve adequate recoveries from the ore body

  • The play we find somewhat interesting is the existence of the privately owned, brand new gold plant around the corner from the deposit. It’s owned by Aurenne Group which is challenging to find decent information but think the ownership links to an ex hedge-fund guy (not mining people…)

  • And their website is worth reading but it raises more questions than it answers
